Rubyd Olvera is a recent graduate with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Policy. As an immigrant herself, she hopes to use her personal experience to give back to her community. During her undergraduate career, she served as Co-President of her undocumented student organization on campus, P.O.D.E.R at UCR where she helped raise over $9,000 scholarships for undocumented students. She also led efforts to support students across all UC campuses through her advocacy to push for the renewal $5 Million dollars that would allow for the continuation of resources for undocumented students across the UC. In efforts to give back to her community, she served as Riverside Steer as part of The Coalition for Human Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA), lobbying for issues affecting domestic workers and resource center across all colleges in California. During her undergraduate career, she was awarded the UC Presidential Public Service Fellowship which allowed her to expand her research on undocumented students across the UC and provide recommendations to the UC Office of the President after the removal of DACA. Rubyd hopes to continue her advocacy efforts by fighting for immigrants rights just as others have helped fight for her rights
